The Film ARt Lab
Create the World Behind an Original Movie.
What is Film Art Lab?
Film Art Lab is a creative filmmaking workshop for young artists, designers, and storytellers who want to imagine the worlds behind the movies they love.
Participants develop an original film concept and explore how ideas become cinematic worlds through character design, costume design, production design, miniature set building, movie poster creation, photography, and visual storytelling.
What will they create?
Throughout the workshop, they will build a portfolio of interconnected projects that bring their original film concept to life. Depending on their ideas and creative direction, their portfolio may include:
Character designs
Costume designs
Production design
Miniature sets
Movie posters
Photography
Visual references and mood boards
By the end of the workshop, they'll have a unique collection of work that showcases their creative vision and world-building skills.
Why is it different?
Most filmmaking workshops focus on cameras, filming, and editing. Film Art Lab explores the creative process that comes before production begins.
They will work like the artists and designers who help shape a film before it's made, creating the characters, environments, costumes, and visual identity that would guide a future production. Instead of making a film, they will design the world that makes one possible.
